The Fire Safe Council of San Diego County offers free chipping service in 31 wildfire-prone communities including Fallbrook, Harmony Grove, Ramona, Pala, Pauma, San Pasqual and Valley Center. The service is offered in cooperation with the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County for assistance with fuel reduction and wildfire preparedness. Trained crews from the Urban Corps of San Diego County will bring a chipper to the residence to chip vegetation that has been cut and piled up to six feet high by the resident. More Info

If
you operate a small business, the San Diego County Department
of Environmental Health wants to save you money by helping you
recycle your fluorescent lights free of charge. To qualify for
this opportunity, businesses must be located in San Diego County.
State law requires everyone to recycle fluorescent lights, which
can cost small businesses hundreds of dollars a year. Thanks to
an Energy Efficiency & Conservation Block Grant from the Department
of Energy, the County is currently able to offer small businesses
a limited time opportunity to properly recycle lamps at no cost.
